we had a lively meeting of our new moms' group recently...it felt like a party...
we had a lively meeting of our new moms' group recently...it felt like a party...
it started with a simple xylophone & shortly became a dance party...so fun!
we had a blast making cameras & pretending to be photographers recently....I just wish we could have developed the photos :)
we are so pleased that our little community cookbook is here!
filled with over 80 recipes from arrow's friends and families from far and wide, the cookbook has ideas for family-friendly nibbles, meals, drinks, and sweet treats. (plus, we love the screenprinted cover that was printed by the new athens business, double dutch press.)
the cookbook is $24 and is for sale at arrow, and also the following local businesses: avid bookshop, farm 255, & treehouse. your purchase of a cookbook supports all of the creative programming at Arrow, your local not-for-profit community space for families!
thank you to all of those who contributed recipes to this project!
twinkling lights, snacks, and handmade fun were all part of our open house this year during the athens holiday market...we were excited to have a few handmade things for sale as a fundraiser: our new *cookbook*, the sacks that amanda made for us, and some dyed playsilks, along with some treasures that rachel crafted...
the little ones played inside arrow and made paper stars & cloved clementines, while their parents shopped the market...
one of the sweetest parts of the evening, though, was the Pocket Lady (aka, keara) wandering through the market, charming the littles with her big smile and tiny treasures tucked away in her pockets: feathers, shells, kazoos, and other special things.
a few nights ago, we all walked through the neighborhood with our homemade lanterns. we walked through the cobb house garden and down hill street to the neighborhood garden there. we even strolled through avid bookshop, one of our favorite neighborhood spots.
it was a special, special night.
a few weeks ago, Arrow banded together with athica, the georgia museum of art, the lyndon house, and treehouse to put on a day of creating with children, in conjunction with athica's exhibit appropriately called 'community'. we are very excited to help this collaboration continue...stay tuned for our next gathering, in winter 2013...
it was another great year for our apple festival!
thank you to everyone who came out on such a pretty day and purchased some apples and had some apple fun!
a big thanks to susan hable and her daughter, bird, for carving another apple printing block for our craft, for the second year in a row!
a big thanks to hugh acheson & his three little sidekicks for judging the apple pie contest...and, congrats to emily wancier for winning!
thanks, too, to all who participated in our raffle! what goodies!
arrow's friend (and piper & larken's mama) paige maitland took these sweet photos around our space...thanks, paige!
so sweet...
our blog has been broken for a few months, but now, at long last, it is fixed and we can share what we have been up to lately...!
firstly, our seedlings class has been magical.
the classroom looks so inviting. the little ones' days are filled with exploration, movement, and color, under the guidance of class leaders keara & hope.

chris, peter, and the rest of the fine folks made us yummy treats:
fresh fruit, carrots, hummus & flatbread, and custard tarts.
mmm, mmm.
